The Valparaíso Foundation, in collaboration with Cátedra de Artes Escénicas de la Universidad Carlos III, celebrates the fourth edition of the Performing Arts Workshop, “Quality” for actors and directors.
During the 9th, 10th and 11th of September, the facilities of the Valparaíso Foundation in Mojácar will be the setting for this proposal which, for this 2021 edition, will be directed by Andrés Lima, National Theatre Award, five MX awards as director and founder of the Animalario Company. Andrés Lima will teach the classes and will also guide the stage work of the actors.
Andrés Lima has spent 35 years of his professional career dedicated to the creation of shows. His time at the Royal Court Theatre in London, with a grant from the British Council, forged his interest in creating a permanent research workshop.
With an important professional and personal background, the work will be developed on the basis of what its director, Andrés Lima, calls “Quality”: a combination of the “essential” proposed by the text and the “personal” proposed by the actor.
Lima will share with the participating actors and the audience his techniques of acting direction acquired through years of experience: “It is a tool, not a method”.
The division of labour per day will consist of warm-ups and games, quality and an interpretation of texts chosen by the actors themselves.
The Valparaiso Foundation is a private, non-profit institution, founded in March 1990 by Paul and Beatrice Beckett.
Its aims are the promotion of artistic creation and research in the field of fine arts, literature and music, purposes that it carries out in a fundamental way with the residence for artists, writers and researchers in the facilities that the Foundation owns in Mojácar.
Among its many activities, it also provides financial support to any cultural activity or to individuals dedicated to teaching and research in this field.
It is worth mentioning the organisation of seminars, conference cycles, exhibitions and prizes in various artistic disciplines.
