Day to raise awareness against sexual exploitation and trafficking of women and children

On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day Against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking of Women and Children, the Provincial Council of Almeria has organised a commemorative day to raise awareness of this social problem. On that day, the Andalusian Deputy Prosecutor for Violence against Women and Gender Discrimination, Flor de Torres Porras, and the film director Mabel Lozano, will discuss trafficking and share with the public their vision of this scourge from their different professional perspectives. In this regard, the deputy highlighted the high level of the guests taking part in the conference, who “will illustrate us with their experience in dealing with sexual exploitation from their professions. “Trafficking in women for the purpose of sexual exploitation is a large-scale phenomenon that represents one of the most serious violations of human rights, which is increasing year after year throughout the world and which has become a form of modern slavery, constituting a clear expression of violence against women.

The conference is part of the VI Provincial Strategy Plan for the Equality of Women and Men in Almeria for the period 2020 – 24.
