Delegation of Tourism grants 170.000 euros to the Hotel Continental in Mojácar to boost the sector.

The regional delegate for Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía in Almería, Vicente García Egea, visited the Hotel Continental in Mojácar this Thursday to analyse the evolution of the tourism sector this summer and to check the impact of the different lines of aid provided to this establishment by the Regional Ministry, which have amounted to a total of 161,098 euros.

“The Regional Ministry, headed by Juan Marín, supports entrepreneurs in the sector with different tools and means, so that together and in a coordinated manner we can relaunch tourism activity, also understanding that the accommodation and lodging businesses are also the lever to pull the rest,” said the provincial head of Tourism.

The delegate visited the facilities of this hotel establishment with its general manager, María Dolores García, who valued “to the maximum” this “important incentive” for the maintenance, modernisation and reactivation of its business, which has 56 rooms and is located on the beachfront.

Specifically, according to the delegate, the establishment has benefited from the COVID extraordinary aid line for hotel establishments that includes an incentive of 200 euros per hotel room -10,800 euros-, as well as the line for the requalification of mature tourist destinations on the Andalusian coast with a subsidy of 9,143.63 euros. In addition, the Regional Ministry of Tourism has granted another incentive of 141,155.41 euros within the Pymetur line for the consolidation and creation of new products and initiatives, which, among others, has improved accessibility to the swimming pool, created an adapted junior suite in building 2 and refurbished the basement, which had accumulated damp problems.

“All these measures will result in an increase in quality, updating the services offered to its customers thanks to the technological management of the establishment which, despite the years in operation, remains at the forefront of tourism. Our commitment to tourism, which is a strategic sector for our economy and employment, is firm and can be seen in this aid with which we want to support the tourism industry, which has been so hard hit by the crisis”, stressed the delegate.

García Egea also welcomed the good prospects for the sector for the autumn season in the area, as the town “has an important component of international tourism, especially English and German, which is coming with more affluence than last year”.

In this sense, the delegate has made available to the establishment other aid that the Ministry provides to non-resident international travelers through a free insurance with COVID-19 coverage for stays in any type of regulated establishment in Andalusia and that is an incentive when promoting the Almeria destination in those accommodations with the distinctive ‘Andalucía Segura’.

Throughout the day, the delegate also visited the Green Planet hotels of Hotel Mamabels and Rincón de Diego, also located in Mojácar, which have also received aid in the line of mature destinations: the first 40,000 euros, plus 3,600 euros in extraordinary COVID aid; and the second, 19,900 euros, plus 6,000 euros in COVID aid. In both cases, García Egea has made their managers aware of the different possibilities offered by the Regional Ministry of Juan Marín to support the sector, as well as to test the evolution of the sector in this emblematic tourist area of Almería.
