If last season one of the shortcomings of Cantoria 2017 was their lack of goals, this year they have already scored eight goals in two matches.
This Sunday they hosted Iliturgi 2016 at the Los Olivos municipal stadium, a match corresponding to matchday 3 of the Andalusian Division of Honour, Group 2.
It was a tight game in the first half, with the Jienese side knowing that the less they played, the more they could get out of the Cantorian stadium.
It wasn’t until well into the first half that Alfonso put through his own goal to make it 1-0 for David Cartagena’s side. A free-kick on the stroke of half-time could have made it 2-0 but captain Ricardo Mora’s shot was saved by the crossbar.
In the second half Cantoria imposed a higher tempo on the game and it was Ricardo, from a cross by Guille Cruz, who in the 73rd minute increased the score.
The two-nil scoreline lasted only a few minutes, as Javi in the 76th minute scored from Alberto’s deflected ball, adding some suspense to a game dominated by the Aurinegros.
Capel headed again in the 83rd minute to make his name on the scoreboard and become the Aurinegro’s top scorer with three goals in two games.
Darius put the scoreboard to bed, scoring in the 89th minute with a back-heel after a messy play in the box.
The crowd was good.
