The firefighters of the SEIS of the City Council of Cartagena have already controlled the fire that occurred in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, October 3, in Villas Caravaning (La Manga), as reported by municipal sources.
Three light fire engines, two pumpers, and two light vehicles have been deployed to the scene with a total of 22 personnel. Firefighters from the CEIS also arrived in support with a light fire engine and a water pump.
The councillor for Public Safety, Juan Pedro Torralba, was in the area to check on the progress of the extinguishing work and the situation of the residents. «Fortunately, the flames have not caused personal injury, but have affected a total of 19 plots,» explained the councillor.
Social Services technicians also went to Villas Caravaning to provide support to the families whose homes were affected, offering them psychological support, which in the end was not necessary.
They have also offered a housing solution to an elderly couple, as they were the only family with their usual residence in Villas Caravaning, but in the end it will not be necessary to re-house them as they had relatives in the area.
Local police officers from Cartagena and the Guardia Civil, as well as Civil Protection, also attended the affected area. Although the fire is now under control, firefighters are still cooling the area to prevent the wind from rekindling the flames.
