The Regional Ministry of Health will begin administering the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to people over 70 years of age “at the end of October or beginning of November”, making it coincide with the annual flu vaccination campaign.
This was announced by the Regional Minister of Health, Juan José Pedreño, who pointed out that, following the authorisation of the third dose by the European Medicines Agency, the Region of Murcia approved its application from the age of 70 onwards at the National Public Health Commission.
As for the vaccination points, he confirmed that the Nueva Condomina vaccination point will be closed on 18 September because another point will be set up in the Salitre garden. In any case, he reminded the public that all health centres are authorised to carry out vaccinations. In fact, he recalled that the flu vaccination campaign has been carried out every year in the health centres.
“People who come for flu vaccinations at health centres will also be able to receive the Covid vaccine, but if it is necessary to set up a mass vaccination point when we see how this campaign evolves, we are ready and willing to do so,” he confirmed.
He also explained that the Regional Ministry has already completed the administration of the third dose to users of residences in the Region and continues with the rest of the immuno-depressed and group 7 (very high risk) of the national vaccination strategy.
To date, he said that more than 5,000 third doses have been administered to these groups in the Region.
