More than a hundred purebred Spanish horses will take part in the new edition of FERICAB, which starts next Tuesday, 12 October in Lorca.

The Horse Fair returns, after the break forced by the pandemic, with a new and sensational equestrian show, which will premiere on Friday 15 October; in addition to, National Dressage Competition, the Territorial Competition Dressage and Territorial League FHRM, among others, returning to place Lorca as a benchmark within the equestrian field.

The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, presented this morning, together with the Councillor for Livestock, Antonio Navarro and the organisers of the event, a new edition of the Horse Fair, Fericab, which will be officially inaugurated this coming Friday, 15th October from 12 noon.

The Mayor of Lorca explained that “this year’s edition 2021 has an extensive programme of activities in which more than a hundred purebred Spanish horses will participate, belonging to 44 stud farms, in what is considered the second morpho-functional competition of Purebred Spanish horses in the ranking of ANCEE competitions in terms of number of participating horses at national and international level”.

“It should be noted that we have horses that are already backed by an important list of awards and the participants in this edition of Fericab will certainly include the World Champions of 2021”.

Diego José Mateos stressed that “Lorca will once again host this horse fair which is considered one of the best on the national scene and after last year’s edition which could not take place as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, this 2021 returns stronger than ever and with the intention of returning to place the name of Lorca as one of the capitals in the calendar of equestrian competitions”.

Mateos detailed that “the program of activities will begin on Tuesday, October 12th, with the National Dressage Competition CDN** ANCCE Cup, as well as the Territorial Dressage Competition and the FHRM Territorial League, while on Wednesday, October 13th, it will be the turn of the National Dressage Competition CDN** ANCCE Cup”.

“On Friday, the 15th, the National Morpho-Functional Competition 3*** P.R.E ANCCE will be held, with the official inauguration scheduled for 12 noon. A posthumous tribute to Víctor Jiménez Pérez Muelas will take place at 20:00 hours, and at 20:30 hours a great equestrian show will begin”.

The Mayor added that “on Saturday, 16th October, the 3*** P.R.E ANCCE National Morpho-Functional Competition is scheduled; at 20:00 hours the draw for the starting order of the III High School Championship will take place and at 20:30 hours we will be able to enjoy the equestrian show once again.

“The closing ceremony of Fericab will take place on Sunday, 17th October with the selection of the special prizes for the National Morpho-Functional 3*** P.R.E ANCCE competition at 21:00 hours; the prize-giving ceremony for the National Morpho-Functional 3*** P.R.E ANCCE competition will take place at 21:00 hours”.

Mateos specified that “in addition, on Sunday, the second edition of the Gymkana de Enganche Fericab will be held at 11 a.m., where participants will demonstrate their skills in a series of tests around the grounds and in the city center in a very colorful test that will attract the attention of fans and visitors. Finally, at 12 noon, the Alta Escuela FERICAB 2021 Championship, where riders from this discipline will participate in this already consolidated ANCCE Cup championship, which qualifies for the final at SICAB 2021”.

Finally, the Mayor of Lorca reiterated that “the celebration of FERICAB, even with some capacity limitations, makes us think that little by little we are returning to normality in terms of holding our traditional livestock events, which every year make the municipality of Lorca a capital in various fields of livestock, after many years of effort and dedication to hold fairs of renowned prestige, something we will continue to work tirelessly to achieve”.
