Juan Ramón García and Tania Salamanca, winners of the 1st Paraíso Salado Half Marathon
San Pedro del Pinatar hosted the first edition of this race, tenth qualifying race of the Running Challenge 2020-2021 and championship of the Region of Murcia of individual Half Marathon and absolute clubs 2021.
On Sunday, 10th October, the seafront of San Pedro del Pinatar and the town centre of the municipality hosted the new race I Paraíso Salado Half Marathon, a qualifying race for the circuit of popular races of the Region of Murcia Running Challenge 2020/2021 and championship of the Region of Murcia of Individual Half Marathon by categories and by Absolute Clubs.
All this, with start and finish line in the Parque Mar de los Reyes de España (Lo Pagan esplanade), over a 21.097 kilometre circuit, organised by the Sports Council of San Pedro del Pinatar, in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, in the first event of the Region that started with a block start, after the authorisation of the General Directorate of Sports due to the current health situation.
On the men’s side, the fastest to complete the distance was the Mandarache Cartagena athlete Juan Ramón García, 1st Master 40 with a time of 1:09:55, ahead of 1st Senior Álvaro Franco, from the Mobel Automenor Running Team, in 1:15:17, as well as 2nd Master 40 Alejandro Jiménez, from the Rajaos Runners Alcantarilla, in 1:15:58.
In the women’s section, the victory fell to Tania Salamanca, athlete of C.D. UPCT Puerto de Cartagena, who smashed the regional U23 record of the distance, stopping the time in 1:25:13 and smashing the 1:27:46 of Pilar Duarte, achieved on April 11, 2015 in Águilas. Behind her, C.A. Nogalte Hogar Puerto Lumbreras athlete Mar Gómez, 1st Master 45 in 1:30:22, followed by María De Los Llanos García, from C.D. Runtritón Cartagena, in 1:33:32.
