The railway collectives demand the Spanish Government to award the informative study of the Guadix-Baza-Almanzora-Lorca train.

The Asociación Amigos del Ferrocarril Comarca de Baza and the Plataforma Comarca de Guadix por el Tren consider it a great achievement that 15 companies have bid for the drafting of the Informative Study for the reopening of the Guadix Baza Almanzora Lorca railway line, which is a record in tenders of this type, and claim that much of the merit is due to the social demands of the railway collectives in the area in recent decades: not only have they fought for the return of the train when nobody “gave a penny for it”, but also they were not satisfied with the insufficient 500. They have worked at provincial, regional and state level, and with entities such as the University of Granada, until the current 1.6 million euros were obtained.

Amigos del Ferrocarril Comarca de Baza y Guadix por el Tren demand the Spanish Government to “award this Informative Study immediately, since last September 16th the 15 companies have been technically assessed and it is convenient to move forward in order to coordinate its integration within the Mediterranean Railway Corridor, as well as to achieve the financing of its works with European funds”.
