Five and a half million coupons will carry the image of the Plaza de la Fuente de los Leones in Monday’s draw.
ONCE will dedicate next Monday’s draw, 18 October, to Macael Marble.

The director of ONCE in Almería, María Jesús Segovia, and the director in Granada, Alberto Morillas, presented the image of this coupon this Thursday morning to the mayor of Macael, Raúl Martínez, and the president of the Association of Marble Entrepreneurs of Andalusia (AEMA), Jesús Posadas, in a ceremony in which the director of ONCE in Huércal-Overa, María José Gómez, and the regional councillor Gemma Pozo also participated.
There are five and a half million coupons with a central image of the replica of the Fountain of the Lions of the Alhambra located in Macael with a view of the square, with which ONCE wants to claim the town of Almeria “as the capital of marble in Spain” and highlight “its potential and entrepreneurial character as a major reference of the Andalusian industry”, according to the director of ONCE in Granada, Alberto Morillas. He also expressed his confidence that this nationwide diffusion projected by ONCE through its coupon “will contribute decisively to reinforce the possibilities of Macael marble quarrying in its race to achieve the candidacy as Intangible Heritage of Unesco”.
With this coupon ONCE wants to highlight the strategic importance of Macael and its region for the marble sector in Spain. “It is an example of business excellence of which we are all very proud”, stressed Morillas.
For the president of the marble entrepreneurs, this collaboration is a further step and a boost in the promotion and enhancement, not only of its native material, the Blanco Macael marble, but also of the know-how; “that quality that positions the Macael Marble Sector as a great centre for the transformation of natural stone and responsible for major projects in the five continents”.
“That the image of the Macael Brand, represented in this replica of the Fountain of the Lions of the Alhambra, -in whose elaboration companies of the Association of Marble Entrepreneurs of Andalusia participated-, illustrates the five and a half million coupons that will distribute luck throughout Spain, is an honour”, has indicated Posadas, who has also informed that, currently, the marble industry generates almost 5000 jobs and is the main source of wealth of an entire region.

For Mayor Raúl Martínez, “it is a unique opportunity to project the image of our town to more than five million people, a good management carried out by AEMA. There are five million billboards that will carry the image of the Fuente de los Leones, but could carry any other image of our town. By the way, before, great works were made that travelled to different parts of the world but very little stayed in our town. Now our neighbours can enjoy the most famous works with the intention that they remain, transcend to all of us and be the legacy of future generations. We have to be proud and pass on to our children what we are capable of doing”.
