Coronavirus outbreak detected in a centre for people with disabilities in San Javier

An outbreak in a centre for people with disabilities leaves 16 positives in San Javier.

This Sunday, the Ministry of Social Policy has reported that the Epidemiology service of the Region is studying an outbreak of coronavirus that has taken place in a centre for people with disabilities located in the municipality of San Javier, of which, so far, 16 positives have been confirmed.

In the last 24 hours of Saturday, Health has reported a significant increase in the number of new infections in the aforementioned coastal municipality, so this rise could be directly related to the localised outbreak.

This is in addition to the one detected by Epidemiology on Friday at the Rafael Méndez hospital in Lorca, in which nine patients and four professionals tested positive.

The Lorca hospital decided to restrict visits for 15 days, and access control has been reinforced in order to avoid contagion, according to sources from the Regional Ministry of Health in a statement.
