Coming from all over Spain, a good number of motorhome drivers made the pilgrimage to meet the ‘Pequeñica’ (Vingen del Saliente) and obtain the blessing of their vehicles last Sunday morning, all of them participants of the weekend meeting organised by the Asociación Locos por los Camiones.
A LONG LINE OF MOTORHOMES BETWEEN ALBOX AND EL ROEL
Although on Sundays the winding road between Albox and El Roel is usually quite busy, as well as with pilgrims wandering along its margins, on the last day it offered a striking panorama. A long line of motorhomes, all perfectly white, slowly ascended the scarce twenty kilometres that make up this route.
The drivers came from Almería, Cuevas del Almanzora, Campohermoso, Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca, Santo Ángel, Molina de Segura, Valladolid, Aguilar de Campoo and León. The Motorhome Association of the Region of Murcia, which was founded in 2006, requested this meeting in the Diocesan Sanctuary of Saliente.

In the main chapel of the Sanctuary, in front of the sacred image of Our Lady of the Forsaken of the Good Retreat of the Crowned Salient, they were welcomed by the Rector who officiated at the blessing ceremony and gave a speech about the Christian meaning of motorhome tourism. With your motorhomes,» he told them, «you live the values of family and healthy friendship. You remind us that our true home is not an accumulation of things, but the people we love.
Afterwards, on the esplanade of the Roel, the motorhomes received their corresponding dose of holy water under the joyful gaze of their owners. All of them proudly displayed their diplomas certifying their participation in the blessing ceremony. Finally, a souvenir of the pilgrimage was offered to the Pequeñica.
