The Rural Development Group Levante Almeriense and Almanzora approved in the Board of Directors held last Thursday 14th October, 130.000 euros that will be used to equip the integral rehabilitation centre, Ver de Olula.
The centre, a reference in the province for the treatment and rehabilitation of physically and mentally disabled children, is in the process of expansion, as it must respond to 126 children from the Almanzora region and surrounding areas and it is a great effort made by the members of the Association Ver de Olula with the invaluable support of the local council, the Provincial Council and the Association of Municipalities of the Almanzora Valley, the latter body that has allocated 380,000 euros for the centre to offer better quality care to users.
Special mention should be made of the workers of the Olula del Río Town Hall, who are permanently providing support in whatever is needed, even at the cost of sometimes putting aside other work involved in the daily maintenance of the municipality.
Once the enlargement of the building to enlarge the Early Childhood Centre and School was completed, which will help to reduce the waiting list, the challenge was to find the money for the equipment.
Now another organisation has committed itself to making the dreams of an association that has been working for more than 30 years for this group of people with disabilities come true.
Grupo de Desarrollo Rural Levante Almeriense y Almanzora, joins the effort and will provide the money for the purchase of equipment and improvement of the facilities, so that the sanitary and medical conditions can be improved. This money will also allow the acquisition of a therapeutic swimming pool and a gymnasium with a ceiling crane, as well as equipping spaces for individualised therapies.
The news was given by the regional representative in the RDG, Antonio Martínez Pascual, who is also mayor of Olula del Río.
The mayor of Olula del Río expressed his satisfaction for “having managed to take another step towards achieving a dream of a brave group of people who are facing adversity. Offering solutions to problems is our political duty and is what gives meaning to our work, so I thank each and every one of the administrations, companies, families and individuals who collaborate selflessly. We set out to get the help of the RDG and we have achieved it. We are very happy”, said Pascual.
