Health will start the campaign with those over 70 years of age, who will be given a booster dose against the coronavirus with Pfizer or Moderna.
The flu vaccination campaign in the Region of Murcia starts on 2 November, Tuesday of next week, with the group of people over 70 years of age who will also receive the third dose of Pfizer or Moderna against the coronavirus. The aim is that in two weeks people between 60 and 69 years of age will be able to get the flu vaccine alone.
This was indicated by Juan José Pedreño, the Regional Minister of Health, who pointed out that all elderly people in residential homes in the Region of Murcia have received the third dose against the coronavirus.
Regarding those vaccinated with Janssen, Pedreño recalled that the proposal of the Ministry’s Vaccines Committee that they should be inoculated with a booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna. The Public Health Commission will be the one to decide at its meeting this Tuesday.
Incidence rates at fourteen days in the Region of Murcia are 56 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants and at seven days 21.7 cases, and the regional rate has experienced an average decrease of ten percent compared to the previous week.
“In all the autonomous communities and all the countries around us there is an increase in the number of infections, so we must be extremely cautious and not fall into the error of giving up the pandemic and avoid the risk that many experts are already warning of a sixth wave,” he said.
For this reason, he called for extreme caution in the social and family environment, as this is where seventy percent of the cases with epidemiological links have originated, and to avoid this risk the health authorities remind us that the vaccine is fundamental, “which has undoubtedly been the great tool for containing the coronavirus”, he added.
