The Diputación de Almería has launched an important campaign to promote the consumption of products under the ‘Sabores Almería’ brand in the 103 municipalities of the province, which will run until the end of the year. Under the suggestive slogan, ‘Enjoy the good things from Almeria’, this promotional initiative will highlight the agri-food, livestock and fish production of our land with a single objective: to turn the people of Almeria into the best hosts of the more than 1,000 flavours that make up the seal of quality promoted by the Provincial Institution.
This campaign comes to the province after the great success at the Salón Gourmets in Madrid, where ‘Sabores Almería’ has achieved that its role as a guest province has made it the star of the most important gourmet products fair in the world. In this sense, the Almeria exhibitor has led the visits and professional contacts and has shone with its own light with a striking staging in Hall 6 of IFEMA (Madrid). Once the conquest of new markets has been boosted since the beginning of the pandemic, the Provincial Council is now focusing on further strengthening the consumption of ‘Sabores Almería’ products among the people of Almeria itself.
Enjoy the good things from Almeria’ is aimed at the end consumer after the great boost given to the province’s hotel and catering and agri-food businesses by the ‘Plan Anfitriones’ (Host Plan). More than 3 million euros in aid of up to 5,000 euros for the purchase of products produced and processed in the province of Almeria. Bars, restaurants and caterers have become a great platform to promote the quality, innovation and artisan character of the ‘Sabores Almería’ products.
The campaign will tour all the counties and roads with a truck that will invite the people of Almeria to enjoy the good things of Almeria and will also be present in the traditional media so that all the people of Almeria decide to taste the province.
The President emphasised that with this campaign “we are continuing with our great commitment to one of the key sectors for our economy, encouraging the people of Almeria to be the great allies of Almeria’s production”. In this sense, he assured that “we want the products produced both on the coast and inland to be cooked, eaten, given as gifts and enjoyed in our province”.
A valuable heritage:
The province of Almeria has a valuable gastronomic heritage that is sustained by the quality and flavour of products of the highest excellence, as well as a tradition defended by dozens of generations who have shared and spread customs and recipes that have conquered the most demanding palates in the world. The gastronomy of the province of Almeria, as well as becoming a powerful attraction that promotes the arrival of tourists to the destination ‘Costa de Almeria’, is a key asset for the provincial economic fabric, the creation of employment and an indissoluble component of the idiosyncrasy of being and feeling Almeria.
This relationship between gastronomy and the people of Almeria is reinforced by the reality of the province being the market garden of Europe and having one of the most important and prestigious fruit and vegetable productions in the world. Almeria cultivates and exports health through its fruit and vegetable production to every corner of the planet. Not forgetting that thanks to Almeria’s link with agriculture and the quality of its production, we are the cradle of the Mediterranean diet, praised by experts as one of the healthiest ways of eating.
For all these reasons, Diputación created ‘Sabores Almería’ in 2016, the first gourmet brand in the province: ‘Sabores Almería’, a seal of quality that brings together all the production companies that grow, process and transform their products in the province of Almería. In addition, ‘Sabores Almería’ also includes catering establishments and distribution chains that serve and market these ‘made in Almería’ products.
Some of the main objectives of ‘Sabores Almería’ are to contribute to the creation of wealth and employment in the province, to fix the population in the interior, to preserve and disseminate the craft traditions in the production of products, and to promote the tourist destination ‘Costa de Almería’ through the flavour and quality of its products.
To date, ‘Sabores Almería’ continues to grow exponentially. Nearly a hundred companies make up the brand that has earned a place in the pantries of Spanish and international homes and restaurants. A number that should continue to grow so that more and more consumers get to know the products that make Almeria’s gastronomy unique.
In ‘Sabores Almería’ you can find everything of the highest quality: olive oil, craft beers, cheeses and dairy products, fish and seafood, salted fish, wines, bakery, fruits, meats, ham, sausages, liquors, honey, preserves and jams, pickles…, the most appetising way to discover Almería is through its flavour.
