Almeria Provincial Council is going to renovate the roads of eight municipalities in the interior of the province through the Roads Plan 2020-21. The Governing Board has activated almost half a million euros in projects that will reach Benizalón, Serón, Almócita, Bentarique, Instinción, Bacares, Senés and Viator.
The vice-president and deputy for Development, Ángel Escobar, has highlighted the importance of actions that equalise opportunities: «The networks of municipal roads are essential for inland municipalities because they facilitate access to the outlying areas and the exit of agricultural and livestock production in the province of Almería».
In this sense, he detailed that the investments will reach a total of 11 roads in the regions of the Alpujarra, Bajo Andarax, Almanzora and Filabres – Alhamilla. This investment is part of the 10.5 million euros that will reach the 103 municipalities through the Provincial Council’s Roads Plan.
In Filabres – Alhamilla, the actions are going to reach the municipalities of Benizalón and Senés, where a total of 90,000 euros will go to repair and maintain four municipal roads.
– Benizalón:
Camino de El Cerrón: An 855-metre-long section of the road leading to the A-1100 will be upgraded.
Camino de La Granja: The purpose of the intervention is to condition the access to the Granja Escuela on a 120-metre stretch.

Serón and Bacares are the two municipalities of the Almanzora which will see their roads improved with an investment of 144,500 euros, 100% financed by the Diputación de Almería.
Bacares: The works consist of cleaning and clearing the platform of the road ‘El Secanillo to El Prado de El Álamo’ in nine different sections totalling 1,444 linear metres.
Serón: The project will consist of the renovation of more than two kilometres of the ‘Los Claveros’ road, in which two sections will be resurfaced to eliminate potholes and ditches will be created to improve drainage.
In the areas of the Alpujarra and Bajo Andarax, the actions will reach the municipalities of Almócita, Bentarique, Instinción and Viator with an investment of 180,000 euros.
Almócita: The action will consist of the improvement of the Camino de ‘La Granjilla’, which is currently in dirt and with parts in stone.
Bentarique: The project will improve the access road to the municipal experimental farm, which is in poor condition, and the Campoy Road, which is currently in dirt.
Instinción: Thanks to the Plan de Caminos, the roads to the Pantano and Olleta will be upgraded.
Viator: Diputación investments will improve the Camino Rambla del Mar.
The Vice President of the Provincial Council has highlighted that thanks to these tenders, the Plan for Agricultural and Livestock Roads to improve these roads, which are essential for the development and competitiveness of two of the main productive fabrics of the province, is reaching its final stretch. The Provincial Institution has already executed, tendered and/or awarded 99% of the planned investment. Of the 10.5 million euros available for this Plan, more than 10 million have already been executed.
In this sense, Escobar has valued very positively the high degree of execution: «Thanks to this investment we are able to improve communication between the agricultural and livestock areas of the province and give greater fluidity to the entry and exit of vehicles and increase the safety of all users of these roads».
