The proposed ILP (Popular Legislative Initiative) for the Mar Menor reaches 500,000 signatures

The association Popular Legislative Initiative Mar Menor announced this morning that, “after 11 months of collecting signatures”, it has achieved the 500,000 signatures necessary for the proposed law to be debated in Congress of Deputies.

“Without contacts or economic resources, we have managed to put the protection of the Mar Menor in the front line of information, achieving milestones such as the invitation of the ILP to the 26th United Nations Conference on climate change (COP26), where the rights of nature will be discussed on 4 November in Glasgow and where Dr. Teresa Vicente will defend and give voice to the Mar Menor,” explained the association.

“It has been fundamental – they continue – the implication of all the committed volunteers who have constituted more than 500 points of collection of signatures: 365 in the Region of Murcia, and other 200 distributed among the rest of the autonomous communities and countries like Germany, Finland, France or Czech Republic”.
