The Regional Ministry of Justice and the Huércal-Overa Town Council collaborate to set up a Family Meeting Point.

The territorial delegate has met with the mayor to discuss the projects that the Regional Ministry is going to develop in the municipality.

The Regional Ministry of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration will set up a new Family Meeting Point (PEF) thanks to the collaboration with the Town Council of Huércal-Overa (Almería), which has ceded a space so that the municipality can have this service and avoid citizens having to travel to the capital.

To supervise the development of this project, as well as others that the Regional Ministry led by Juan Marín is going to implement in the town, the territorial delegate for Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration in Almería, José Luis Delgado, recently met with the Mayor, Domingo Fernández, and the Councillor for Justice, María del Mar Meca, at the Huércal-Overa Town Hall.

The PEF is a neutral space to guarantee the right of minors to relate to their parents and family members during the processes and situations of separation, divorce or other cases of interruption of family cohabitation, when family relationships are difficult to fulfil or develop in an environment of high conflict, in order to comply with the visiting arrangements agreed and established by court order, always prevailing the best interests of the child.

«One of the lines we are working on at the Regional Ministry is to bring services closer to the citizens, so that everyone, regardless of where they live, can have access to the same services, so that there are no first and second class citizens», said the delegate. In fact, the Regional Ministry has already expanded the Family Meeting Points with a new one in El Ejido and now «we are going to set up this one in Huércal-Overa thanks to the collaboration and involvement that we have found in the Consistory».

For his part, Fernández highlighted the climate of understanding and progress in this meeting «the collaboration between both administrations is present and is the driving force behind these projects that will benefit our municipality and improve the quality of life of the citizens».

Also among the issues that were addressed was the supervision of the construction project for the new judicial headquarters of the municipality, which will go out to tender in the coming months and with which a much needed and demanded action by both the professionals of the Judicial District of Huércal-Overa and those of the Provincial Court will become a reality.
