A pioneering initiative promoted by the Local Action Group for Fisheries and Aquaculture, GALPEMUR, has created an underwater wine cellar from the field of research.
The regional government, together with Galpemur, is promoting a pioneering initiative that ages regional wines at a depth of 40 metres in the Cabo Cope – Calabardina marine strip.
This initiative is carried out through the Local Action Group for Fisheries and Agriculture of the Region of Murcia, which promotes research, innovation and digitalisation of the local fishing environment as a fundamental axis of development, from an environmental, economic and social point of view.
The community has invested 3.7 million euros to promote 110 projects for the revitalisation and local development of the fishing sector. The Regional Minister for Water and Agriculture, Antonio Luengo, during a visit to one of them, the underwater winery Verónica SL, highlighted «the regional government’s commitment to creating a unique product that encourages the development of the local economy».
Luengo indicated that the regional government’s objective is to «encourage initiatives that promote local fishing development, through economic diversification with the aim of regenerating the economic fabric and creating jobs».
