On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Gender Violence, which is celebrated every 25 November, the Olula del Río Town Council proposes to develop a campaign aimed at raising public awareness about this serious social scourge suffered by thousands of families every year.
For this reason, the 2nd Shop Window Competition against gender violence: “Night in purple” will be held, with the participation this year of around 60 shops, double the number of those that took part last year. This is an initiative in which the whole municipality is involved, and which is expected to have an impact of around 12,000 people, given that the town concentrates a large number of people from neighbouring towns.
Under this initiative, it is proposed to commercial and hotel establishments, and all those who have a shop window, that during the days 22 to 28 November 2021 dress their windows against gender violence, giving priority to the colour purple and messages against all types of male aggression, (mannequins, furniture, as well as their work clothes and so on).
Those interested in participating in the contest, should send an image of the shop window dressed through WhatsApp to 635 49 25 27, with the deadline for sending it on Monday 22nd at 20 hours.
For participating establishments, two prizes will be awarded in the form of recognition for the two best shop windows. In addition, the Town Hall will provide the shops with cardboard, gum paste and patent leather paper free of charge, so that they can contribute to the decoration.
A prize of 120 euros, awarded by a jury made up of 2 councillors and 2 members of the board of directors of the associative movement of the municipality. On the 25th of November the jury, accompanied by a batucada (a kind of brass band), with the idea of attracting the attention of passers-by, will walk around the shop windows, ending at the Mirador de la Igualdad, where an allusive act will take place.
A prize of 120 euros. The winning establishment will be judged on the number of likes it receives on its image through the publication of the Facebook page of the Town Hall of Olula del Río, taking into account only the likes of existing people’s profiles.
These prizes will be consumable through a cheque in which the establishment acquires a commitment to consume them in other establishments in the municipality, or offer vouchers to its clientele.
