The Escuela del Mármol de Fines, a training centre attached to the Andalusian Employment Service and National Reference Centre for Vocational Training in the family of Extractive Industries, has started a new training itinerary in which eleven unemployed people will be able to acquire a complete preparation in one of the most demanded occupations by companies in the marble sector, that of auxiliary operations in natural stone processing plants, which also includes training in digital skills.
The itinerary comprises 415 hours of theoretical-practical training and will run until 6 April 2022. Students who complete the training will be able to obtain a level 1 certificate of professionalism and will be qualified to work in companies linked to the extractive industries professional family, natural stone area and construction in general, dedicated to the production, marketing and placement of natural stone and derivatives.
The itinerary covers the basic notions for the performance of a position within a natural stone workshop, the movement of loads with forklift and overhead crane and hoists, together with the theoretical and practical knowledge of basic digital skills essential in the changing labour market, where a basic level of computer skills is required for an increasingly digitised company, as well as the complementary modules of job placement and job search techniques.
The students on this pathway are made up of six men and five women, of whom 54% are under 30 years old, 36% are between 30 and 45 years old and one person is over 45 years old. In terms of educational level, 45% have no schooling, 36% have the ESO diploma and the rest have the School Graduate (one person) and the Baccalaureate (another person).
This training itinerary is the fourth to be launched within the 2021-2023 programme of the Marble School, which includes eight actions (seven itineraries of different specialities and a course of teaching of the FPE). The programme totals 3,910 teaching hours, including work experience in companies, and is aimed at 120 unemployed people. The training responds to the needs of natural stone companies and the occupations most in demand in the sector. The centre will soon begin to offer FPE for employed workers and training actions associated with training and apprenticeship contracts.
The students can apply for the grants and aid established for unemployed people participating in training actions of Vocational Training for Employment for transport, food, accommodation and reconciliation with the care of children under six years old or dependent family members, and grants for assistance to people with disabilities and certain groups of unemployed people established by the SAE and that require a differentiated action to facilitate their qualification or requalification to enable their participation in specific programmes.
Application period open for the Teacher of Vocational Training for Employment course
On the other hand, the application period to participate in a new course in the speciality of ‘Teacher of Vocational Training for Employment’, which is currently in high demand due to the reactivation of the FPE, is still open until 30 November. This training action is aimed at 15 unemployed people and leads to obtain the certificate of professionalism level 3. The students will be trained to be teachers in VET courses for Employment and in the new Employment and Training programme that replaces the workshop schools and employment workshops.
The ‘Teaching of VET’ course, which will take place from mid-January 2022 to mid-May 2022, includes 380 hours of theoretical and practical training in the modules of didactic programming of training actions for employment; selection, development, adaptation and use of materials, media and teaching resources in VET; course delivery and tutoring; evaluation of the teaching-learning process and career guidance and promotion of quality in VET. Students will also carry out a 40-hour non-labour professional internship.
Applicants must, in addition to being registered as non-occupational job seekers with the SAE, meet one of the following requirements: hold a Baccalaureate degree; hold a certificate of professionalism of the same level as the modules or certificate they wish to access; hold a level 2 certificate of the same family and professional area; meet the requirements for access to the higher level training cycle; have passed the university entrance exam or have the necessary key competences (communication in the Spanish language and mathematical competence).

To apply for these itineraries it is necessary to be registered as a non-occupied job seeker in the SAE. People belonging to the following groups will have more points: young people under 30 years old, women, people with disabilities (for whom one of the 15 places will be reserved), people affected by and victims of terrorism, women victims of gender violence, people at risk of social exclusion, people with the status of refugees/asylum seekers or returned Andalusian emigrants.
