– These are two separate, unrelated operations, initiated as a result of complaints lodged by the victims of these crimes.
– In the first operation, the agents arrested a person for the theft of numerous tools and materials from a construction warehouse.
– In the second, they identified the perpetrator of the theft of almost a kilometre of copper wire from different public roads in the municipality, worth 6,352 euros.
The Guardia Civil of Almeria has arrested, in two different actions recently completed, two people as perpetrators of several robberies in the Almeria municipality of Tabernas. In the first of these, the officers arrested a 39-year-old man for the theft of numerous tools and materials from a construction warehouse. In the second, a 29-year-old man was arrested for the theft of 950 metres of copper cable from different public roads in the town. In both cases, the investigations were initiated following complaints lodged by several neighbours.
The first operation began with a complaint from the owner of a construction business who had been robbed of more than 15 high-value tools, a generator and various building materials. The detainee entered the building from the back street, through the roof of an adjoining building from where he jumped onto the patio and forced one of the access doors. Once inside, he stole the tools and left the building through the main door.
The Guardia Civil officers carried out a thorough visual inspection at the scene. Given the characteristics of the stolen material and thanks to the information provided by the complainant, they inspected several establishments and located part of the stolen items in a scrap metal shop. Shortly afterwards, they were able to identify and arrest the perpetrator, who had a long criminal record.
The second action was developed as a result of several complaints filed since last July for thefts of copper cable in different locations in the municipality of Tabernas, such as the municipal swimming pool, the ring road or various central streets of the town. In total, 950 metres of earthed wiring worth 6,352 euros were reported stolen.
After several months of investigation, the Guardia Civil managed to identify and arrest the perpetrator, who had a long police record for crimes against property.
Finally, both detainees, together with the proceedings, were placed at the disposal of the Duty Court of Almería.
These arrests are the result of the activities carried out by the Guardia Civil in the area of public safety to offer a rapid response to crimes against property.
