Cantoria 2017 takes a good point from a field that is still impregnable and against an Atarfe team that is in the top positions of the classification in Group 2 of the Andalusian Division of Honour.
The match was played at midday on Sunday at the Estadio Municipal de Atarfe, a match corresponding to the 11th matchday of the championship.
In the first half both teams respected each other and had two clear chances for both sides, but the good work of Alberto and Darío, with great saves, took the game to half-time with the score blank.
It was in the first minute of the second half (’47) when, catching the Aurinegros still in the dressing room, Parra put the home side ahead; a joy that only lasted a few minutes as Ricardo in the 55th minute equalised again. It was 1-1 and there was still a long game ahead.
It was a duel in which the home side had the ball and Cantoria were looking for counterattacks, in one of them Ricardo was brought down inside the area and a penalty was awarded. It was the captain himself who took the penalty which was saved by the home keeper.
From that moment on both teams were looking for the win, until the visitors were reduced to one man down after Toni was shown a double yellow card.
Atarfe attacked relentlessly, but Cantoria had the clearest chance with a counter attack by Cerri, which was saved by Darío, before the referee called the game off.
It was a hard fought match in which the Cantoria team came away with a bittersweet taste because of another missed penalty. In the last two games they have been awarded three penalties and have not converted any of them, a task to work on during the week.
The next game for the Almanzora side will be next Sunday when they host Atlético Monachil at the Los Olivos stadium.
