The 8th edition of the ‘Sabores Almería’ Fair for the long weekend of the Constitution has already opened its doors to the public thanks to the collaboration between the Provincial Council and the City Council of Almería.
Until 8 December, everyone visiting the Rambla Federico García Lorca, at the height of La Salle, will be able to get to know and fill their pantries to celebrate this Christmas with the quality of the gourmet food products of the gourmet brand of the province, ‘Sabores Almería’.
This afternoon the President of the Provincial Council, Javier A. García, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Almería City Council, María Vázquez, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the fair and visited the stands of the 37 companies displaying their products at the event. The event was also attended by the provincial deputies María Luisa Cruz, Manuel Guzmán and Álvaro Izquierdo; the councillors Carlos Sánchez and Diego Cruz, and the delegates of the Junta de Andalucía, Aránzazu Martín and Eloísa Cabrera.
The ‘Sabores Almería’ Fair can be visited from 11am to 8pm. Among the main novelties compared to last year, it is worth highlighting that the public will be able to enjoy more days of Almerian products, up to a week for the 3 that opened in 2020, with more companies and more references, up to 500.
The president of the Provincial Council has highlighted the importance of an event of these characteristics since, as he pointed out, “they encourage sales, generate employment, fix the population and allow the growth of the towns and villages and build the loyalty of the Almerian public with the products of their land”. He also highlighted the institutional collaboration with the Almeria City Council in this project, which he defined as “a great ally for the promotion of Almeria products”.
Finally, Javier A. García thanked the 37 companies of the brand for their participation, stating that “you are the soul of ‘Sabores Almería’ and the driving force that moves us to work for the agri-food sector. This fair is the best showcase we have and a magnificent opportunity for the people of Almeria and visitors to fill their larders with local produce this Christmas. We will continue to encourage the promotion and dissemination of ‘Sabores Almería’, all its companies and products from Almería”.
Almeria City Council has supported the inauguration of the Sabores Almeria Fair. María Vázquez, first deputy mayor, said that “this Fair will be a very important attraction for tourists who will come to us on the long weekend of the Constitution, while allowing the people of Almeria to shop for Christmas meals and gifts. And it will also help to revitalise the centre, which will contribute to the sales of the traders”. He completes this sentence by congratulating the Diputación on the Sabores Almería brand, which “has established itself as a benchmark for the quality of the province’s gourmet food products”.
Sabores Almería’ has consolidated its growth as a benchmark for the quality of the agri-food production of companies in Almería. It currently has more than 100 member companies, including producers, catering establishments and retailers.
The Provincial Institution continues to promote the consumption of products from Almeria through different actions such as participation in major gastronomic events or through communication campaigns such as ‘Enjoy the good things from Almeria’.
