
The City Council of Cartagena will publish next week the contract for the maintenance of the coastline and removal of biomass from the coast of the Mar Menor for almost 3 million euros.
Once it has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union, the Cartagena City Council will do the same on 9 December, opening a period of 15 days for the submission of bids.
The contract has a tender budget of 2.7 million euros and a term of 3 years, extendable for 2 more. It will consist of the maintenance and upkeep of the coastal areas, including the assembly, maintenance and dismantling of the temporary beach furniture, which will have to be completed before Easter. In addition, the biomass on the beaches of the Mar Menor will be removed with light machinery, explains the councillor for infrastructures, María Casajús.
“With the new specifications we guarantee the continuity of the removal of biomass throughout the year in accordance with the recommendations of the Scientific Committee, which will contribute to the improvement of the state of the coastline,” explained the councillor for Infrastructure and Coastline, María Casajús,
