The City Council will also incorporate wifi connection in the entire fleet of municipal buses.
Cartagena will modernise its urban transport network in the coming year with the incorporation of a new one hundred percent electric bus to the fleet of municipal buses, as well as with the implementation of a project to digitalise the bus shelters at bus stops throughout the municipality.
Within the budget reserved for the area of strategic projects, in which the City Council will invest 1.2 million euros and hopes to add another 6 million euros from European funds, there is an item of 450,000 euros reserved for this new electric bus, as well as to incorporate wifi connection to the entire municipal fleet.
Thus, with this amount the Consistory will also install two specific charging points for this vehicle, one of them at the Bus Station, while another will be located in the municipal depot, in the Security Park.
In addition, this allocation will also be used for the implementation of a pilot project through which intelligent bus shelters will be installed at bus stops throughout the municipality. These shelters will provide users with information on bus capacity, waiting times, possible incidents and traffic information.
