The Guardia Civil of Almeria, in a recent investigation, has arrested three people in the municipality of Laroya, men aged 32, 31 and 25, as perpetrators of a crime against public health and another of defrauding the electricity supply.
This investigation is part of the work carried out by the Guardia Civil in the fight against trafficking, cultivation and / or processing of narcotic substances in the province of Almeria.
The investigation began at the beginning of last November, when the Guardia Civil became aware that three people from outside the town of Laroya were causing unrest among the neighbours, provoking confrontations and obstructing traffic, among other things. It is also reported that these three people could be growing marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) in a house belonging to a deceased relative of one of them.
The Guardia Civil of Almeria organised different surveillance operations discreetly around the house, being able to verify the incessant noise emitted by the a/c equipment, fans and air extractors that are usually found in indoor marijuana crops, so the collaboration of Endesa technicians was requested, who in addition to confirming that the electricity consumption measurements were much higher than usual in a house, also had an illegal connection to the electricity network.
During the corresponding inspection and search, in addition to neutralising an illegal connection to the electricity network, 279 marijuana plants (Cannabis Sativa), 3 a/c devices, 33 halogen lamps with their transformers, several large carbon filters, fans and various electrical material, fertilisers, growth enhancers, etc., were seized.
Finally, as a result of the investigation, the Guardia Civil of Almeria arrested three people in the municipality of Laroya as perpetrators of crimes against public health, for cultivation or processing of drugs, and defrauding the electricity network.
The proceedings conducted by the Guardia Civil, along with the detainees, have been placed at the disposal of the Juzgado de Instrucción y 1ª Instancia Único de Purchena.
