David Bisbal promotes the products of ‘Sabores Almería’ during the Christmas season

The singer, together with the chef Antonio Gázquez, promote the consumption of products from the Diputación’s gourmet brand.

The Provincial Council has launched an ambitious promotional campaign in which it is once again backing one of its main brands, ‘Sabores Almería’, with the aim of boosting sales during Christmas and for this purpose it has enlisted its best ambassador: David Bisbal. The Almeria-born singer stars in a video in which he promotes the province’s gourmet brand products and invites all consumers to gather around “the flavours of our land” during this special time of year.

The video will be shown during the festive season on digital portals, the Diputación’s social networks, the singer’s social networks and the ‘Sabores Almería’ website, www.saboresalmeria.com. This initiative joins the new promotional actions that the Provincial Institution has launched for the ‘Costa de Almería’ destination in different areas, fusing two of the province’s main attractions: gastronomy and tourism.

The main purpose of this action lies in disseminating the products and brands that make up the great family of gastronomic excellence of ‘Sabores Almería’ and that can increase their sales during Christmas. In addition, Diputación continues with its firm commitment to the agri-food sector to strengthen the emotional ties and the feeling of identification between Almeria’s consumers and the companies of the gourmet brand.

David Bisbal has donned the ‘jacket’ of ‘Sabores Almería’ to send Christmas greetings to all the people of Almeria by preparing a dish with local products that combines the gastronomic embodiment of the four elements of the province: water, earth, air and fire. The singer has recorded a greeting video, together with the chef Antonio Gázquez, to encourage everyone to fill their larders this Christmas with products from the ‘Sabores Almería’ brand.

In this audiovisual production Bisbal wishes all the people of Almería that in these special dates “we get together again with our loved ones and share with them what we like most, the flavour of our sea, the flavour of our land, the flavour of our people: ‘Sabores Almería’. I would like to congratulate you on Christmas and wish you all the best for this coming New Year. Your countryman, David Bisbal, loves you very much”.

Fusion of elements

The dish created by Antonio Gázquez with the collaboration of David Bisbal represents the most essential and popular part of Almeria’s gastronomy, both in the use of products and in the way of cooking. The land segment is represented by an aromatic herb and mushrooms from the Sierra de Los Filabres; the sea is represented by a cockerel Pedro, squid and octopus from the Alboran Sea. A broth has been cooked with fennel to emulate the air with a molecular cooking effect.

As Antonio Gázquez explains, “to all this we have introduced an innovation, fire, which has generated the very Almerian finish of squid in oil, which we usually burn with brandy or rum. To assemble it we have used a base of Almería paprika, a foam of ajo colorao and, at the bottom of the dish, a very thin veil of porridge, which is something very much our own. We have also added some of our confit vegetables. The dish is a delight”.

Throughout the video, the fragments of the preparation of the dish with Bisbal and Gázquez are interspersed with spectacular images of the destination ‘Costa de Almería’ that symbolise the different elements that merge in the recipe. In the water you can see the seabed of Almeria; the land is linked to the lush forests of the province; the air with the perception of the movement of the clouds in the amazing and unique desert of Tabernas and the fire with a performance by the Almerian singer in which he unloads all his energy.

The Deputy for Agri-Food Promotion, María Luisa Cruz, thanked David Bisbal and Antonio Gázquez for their involvement with ‘Sabores Almería’, and expressed her confidence that this initiative “will become a further incentive to intensify the promotion of Almeria’s products and ‘Sabores Almería’ and that the people of Almería and visitors will fill their Christmas dinners with products from our land. We have the best possible ambassador and his support helps us to position and boost the visibility of ‘Sabores Almería’, a brand of excellence that is increasingly recognised in all markets”.
