Incentives to Support Units for the labour integration of people with disabilities

They are made up of technical teams that detect and break down barriers to incorporation and maintenance in the workplace.

The Territorial Delegation of Employment, Training, Self-Employment, Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities has approved 60,955 euros in aid for four Special Employment Centres (CEE) in the province of Almeria to set up Support Units, made up of multidisciplinary technical teams that help people with disabilities to overcome the difficulties they may encounter in the process of incorporation into their jobs and their permanence and progression in the same.

The subsidised Support Units are those promoted by the CEE Unei Iniciativa Social S. L. U., the Centro para la Integración Los Carriles S. L., the Federación Almeriense de Asociaciones de Personas con Discapacidad (FAAM) and Servicios Integrales de Fincas de Andalucía S. L. These Special Employment Centres currently employ 200 people with disabilities, 148 of whom have permanent contracts.

A total of 61 people will be targeted by the work of the four subsidised Support Units, 54% of whom will be women.

Special Employment Centres are companies that combine their productive function with that of integration and whose workforce is made up of at least 70% of people with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%.

The Support Units are made up of multi-professional teams within the framework of the Personal and Social Adjustment Services of the Special Employment Centres, which, through the development of the functions and tasks foreseen, help to overcome the barriers, obstacles or difficulties that workers with disabilities in these Centres have in the process of incorporation into a job, as well as the permanence and progression in the same.

Among other functions, the Support Units are in charge of favouring the autonomy of workers with disabilities in their jobs and of carrying out assessments and analyses of the worker and the job, providing technical support and training in order to adapt the job to the characteristics of the worker.

They can also detect training needs and deficiencies for the development of the daily activity, establish individualised support in the workplace, establish relations with the family and social environment as an instrument of support for the worker and, in short, carry out a quality, real and sustainable integration in the work environment.
