Costa de Almería’ showcases its tourism excellence to the world at FITUR 2022

The Provincial Institution will hold, together with more than twenty presentations of municipalities, an intense agenda of professional meetings.

The Almeria Provincial Council is back for another year at FITUR, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, to show the world its tourism excellence and the benefits that make the ‘Costa de Almeria’ one of the best destinations to enjoy the experience of travelling. From 19th to 23rd January, the quality of tourism and the entire offer of the province of Almeria will be the focus of attraction in Pavilion 5 of IFEMA, in Madrid, within the stand of Turismo Andaluz.

The exhibition area of the ‘Costa de Almería’ stand this year will feature more than twenty presentations. The main event, dedicated to the destination ‘Costa de Almería’, will take place on Wednesday, 19th January, and will feature four of the main ‘life style’ influencers in Spain today. The journalist, expert diver and weather presenter on Tele 5, Laura Madrueño; fashion entrepreneurs Marta Carriedo and Tomás Páramo, and commercial pilot Lucía Pombo, will become ambassadors for the ‘Costa de Almería’ destination at FITUR 2022.

These well-known influencers, who have millions of followers, will be responsible for promoting the great attractions that the province of Almeria has to offer visitors at any time of year for a host of experiences: gastronomy, sport, nature in its purest form, inland, the four seasons in a single day, traditions, history, pristine beaches and a seabed such as we find in very few places in the world…

This union will allow the destination ‘Costa de Almería’ to sneak into the profiles of the four ‘instagrammers’ and create a trend in their followers when deciding where to travel. Excellence, diversity and an offer of nature and active tourism by land, sea and air, scientific and industrial tourism, gastronomic and sun and beach are just some of the aspects that the ‘followers’ of these influencers will be able to know, as well as the experiences they have lived in Almeria.

The Deputy for Tourism, Fernando Giménez, said that «we are travelling to FITUR with the hope of spreading the excellence of our destination so that we continue to be the first choice of many travellers who want to enjoy tourism in a safe way. We will have more than twenty presentations of municipalities and an extensive agenda of professional meetings that will surely result in agreements that allow us to grow in new markets and confirm the recovery of the sector.

Likewise, regarding the presentation of ‘Costa de Almería’, the deputy pointed out that «in this edition we wanted to count on the collaboration of prestigious influencers who reach millions of followers through their social networks. We find it very interesting because we are going to connect with a young audience, a different target that would otherwise be very difficult for us to reach. More and more people are looking to social networks and their most admired influencers for their travel and holiday plans».

Finally, Giménez remarked that «the tourism sector is one of our main economic and productive pillars, as well as our great calling card to the world. From the Provincial Council we will continue to promote the destination ‘Costa de Almería’ nationally and internationally with new promotional campaigns that will result in more visitors and that, as soon as possible, we recover the positive figures we had before the pandemic.

A leading space

The ‘Costa de Almería’ stand at the new edition of FITUR will once again have a leading role within Turismo Andaluz with the rest of the offer from all the provinces of Andalusia. Across 320 square metres of exhibition space, Almería will show the world its quality tourism in a stand that has a customer service area, a multimedia space for presentations that can be followed live through the ‘Costa de Almería’ social networks, and another area for business meetings.

The large-format images illustrating the Almeria display at this year’s edition summarise the main attractions that visitors can find in the land of the Indalo. The Tabernas desert, unspoilt beaches and spectacular coves in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, the Vélez-Blanco Castle, natural spaces in inland municipalities such as Padules, Fondón or the amazing forests of La Alpujarra, active tourism options…, will all be present at IFEMA.

In addition to presentations by local councils, associations and other Almerian entities representing the 103 municipalities and the smaller local entity, the Provincial Tourism Service has scheduled an extensive agenda of professional meetings with Spanish Tourist Offices (OTS), tour operators, airlines, travel agencies and online sales portals.

Strong commitment of the Provincial Council

The actions promoted by the Provincial Council throughout 2021 have been decisive in bringing tourism back to the province of Almeria. In addition to promotional activities, agreements have been signed with tour operators so that the Almeria destination can once again shine brightly in European markets.

National and international promotion has allowed Almeria’s landscapes to reach millions of Europeans through the media and outdoor media (mupis or billboards) in the main points of a dozen Spanish cities, as well as in the undergrounds of London and Paris and in French cities such as Lyon.
