The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, presided over the first Andalusian Government Council of the year in Almería. A meeting in which some of the most important projects for the province were discussed.
One of them has to do with the water supply, an essential asset that many municipalities in the Almanzora lack, where some councils have to fill the general tanks with buckets in order to be able to provide drinking water for their residents.
The Regional Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, Carmen Crespo, presented the project declared of Community interest, which will alleviate the lack of water resources for the supply of various towns in the Almanzora region.
The project will enable the efficient use of water from the Negratín-Almanzora water transfer and desalinated water, through the construction of a Drinking Water Treatment Plant (DWTP), and the distribution pipelines of high water to the headwater reservoirs of the municipalities throughout the region of Almanzora.
This action will require an investment of close to 25 million euros and is currently in the drafting phase of the construction project, with an investment of 360,000 euros. A project financed by the Junta, which in the words of the president of the Mancomunidad de Municipios del Almanzora, Antonio Ramón Salas, “will allow us to solve the most important problem we have right now in our region, where there are many villages that do not have a guaranteed water supply, and without this there is no future,” he assures.
Salas insists that “it will mean a before and after for all those villages that do not have this basic supply, either in quantity or quality. In addition to generating hundreds of jobs during its construction and later for its maintenance”.
Tourism, and the General Plan for Sustainable Tourism in Andalusia (META 2027) promoted by the Ministry of Tourism of the Andalusian Regional Government, is another of the challenges that the regional institution has set itself for this new year. In this case they will present it together with the region of Los Vélez in order to obtain European funds that will allow them to enhance the value of the numerous heritage and its potential. To make the north of the province a quality, sustainable tourist destination that generates new jobs.
Precisely these resources and this project of the Association of Municipalities of the Almanzora, is presented this Wednesday at FITUR, January 19, at the stand of Diputación ‘Costa de Almería’, with the first promotional video, which will present the tourism initiative of the Almanzora and Los Vélez.
