The delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in Almería, Maribel Sánchez Torregrosa, and the president of the Association of Municipalities of the Almanzora Valley, Antonio Ramón Salas, presented the Sustainable Tourism Development Plan for the Almanzora-Los Vélez Valley, which is being drafted by the Association for submission to the Extraordinary Strategy and Programme for Sustainable Tourism in Destinations (PRTR).
The event took place in Andalusia’s Pavilion 5 at FITUR, where the promotional video was presented, which includes the main natural, cultural and tourist resources of the municipalities that form part of the Almanzora Valley and Los Vélez.
Sánchez Torregrosa stressed that this Plan, in which 30% of the towns in the province are represented, “aims to join forces to make the two regions a differentiating tourist attraction”. The delegate of the Andalusian Government has detailed that “these areas of the province have a myriad of products such as industrial tourism, the Vía Verde, natural resources, the Sierra María-Los Vélez Natural Park, in short, a sum of elements that will offer an attractive image for tourists visiting these regions”.
For his part, the president of the Mancomunidad del Valle del Almanzora has assured that “with this plan we want to strengthen the territorial cohesion of all the municipalities that make it up so that we can attract important resources for the two regions”. Both the Almanzora and Los Vélez “have a lot to offer and we are working hand in hand with the Andalusian Government to export our potential”.
The Andalusian Regional Government, through the Regional Ministry of Tourism, wants to encourage people to take advantage of this “historic opportunity” in view of the amount of funding provided by the META 2027 Plan, which will be complemented by other economic resources from the regional government and the Next Generation Funds, given the Andalusian Government’s interest in promoting “a before and after” in the development of tourism in the provinces.
