Costa de Almería’ becomes the social media trending destination at FITUR 2022

The presentation of Almeria’s tourism offer has an impact on social networks thanks to the guest influencers.

The participation of ‘Costa de Almería’ in FITUR has gone viral on social networks since the presentation of the destination with the participation of four of the most popular influencers in Spain. Since then, many professionals and followers have been visiting the Almeria stand in Hall 5 at IFEMA to get a closer look at what the province has to offer, its landscapes and to find out about the experiences the influencers have had in our land.

Thanks to the interactions of Laura Madrueño, Marta Carriedo, Tomás Páramo and Lucía Pombo, the tourist excellence of ‘Costa de Almería’ reaches an audience that is reached more effectively through the digital universe. Likewise, the profiles of the social networks of the provincial institution have experienced a real revolution of visits with more than 500% compared to the previous week.

The deputy for Tourism, Fernando Giménez, has made a very positive assessment of these data and explained that “influencers allow us to reach their millions of followers in a very close and effective way, an audience that would otherwise be very difficult for us to reach. In recent years, social networks have become a fundamental medium, probably the most influential, when it comes to travellers choosing one destination or another. With this action we have managed to make ‘Costa de Almería’ the most fashionable destination in the online world”.

The deputy also pointed out that “on this second day of FITUR the Provincial Council continues to work with all its energy in important meetings, which give us a very good feeling, to continue promoting tourism in the province, as well as with the presentations of the municipalities that have wished to attend. We continue to work to ensure that, together, tourism in the province of Almeria is a vital engine for the generation of employment.

Contrasts, history, heritage, gastronomy, sport…

The agenda of presentations at the Almeria stand began with the Association of Municipalities of Levante, which presented the Tourism Sustainability Plan for Levante Almeriense. The importance of these towns for the ‘Costa de Almeria’ was presented in terms of heritage tourism, sun and beach, geode, active and gastronomic tourism.

Cuevas del Almanzora showed a video entitled ‘Legendary soul’. The municipality completes the tourist diversity of the province through its history, heritage with its palaces or the Baria archaeological site, culture, sun and beach, sport or the religious aspect with a Holy Week full of personality.

This year at FITUR, Huércal-Overa has focused on the role played by the town’s many hamlets as a tourist attraction. They have presented a video and the campaign ‘Huércal-Overa, more than just a town’, promoting its 36 urban centres and everything the municipality has to offer visitors. The districts of Huércal-Overa combine tradition, culture, history, nature and heritage.

Níjar shared its Territorial Modelling Plan at FITUR, based on the achievement of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and Targets. The aim is to promote a new territorial development model focused on the interconnection of the main socio-economic agents in the municipality: trade, agriculture, fishing, sport and tourism.

The Almanzora Tourist Business Association has made two presentations. On the one hand, they have presented the project Camino de la Cruz del Almanzora, an initiative to enhance the value of the Pilgrim’s Route of the Almanzora from the Santo Cristo del Bosque to the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Saliente. Secondly, they presented the results of the Almanzora Eléctrico project, which has enabled the installation of 20 vehicle charging points to promote tourism in this form of transport.

The Auto Sacramental de los Reyes Magos of Los Gallardos is one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the Levante Almeriense. The municipality has shown in FITUR this great event that is celebrated every January 6 awakening the illusion of young and old, and in which the whole town is involved. In 2021 the Diputación Provincial distinguished the Auto de los Reyes Magos with the Medalla de la Cultura del Día de la Provincia for preserving the roots of the people of Almeria.

Garrucha has exhibited a video about the Historical Mining Recreation of 19th Century Garrucha. The Town Hall wants to extol the mining history of the municipality and use it as a tourist attraction. The mining life in Garrucha lasted for more than a hundred years and this past, for the province of Almeria, is one of the most important chapters of our recent history.

Carboneras has presented its offer as a tourist destination and a promotional video. It is one of the most visited towns in the Levante region, declared the best summer destination in Spain by the prestigious travel portal Viajestic. The town’s beaches are one of its main attractions. For example, Los Muertos beach had, in 2021, more than 130,000 visitors.

Antas shared its cultural project ‘El Argar’ with the public at FITUR. They have exhibited a video that highlights one of the most important Bronze Age sites in Spain and Europe. The immediate plans to promote the site include the construction of three dwellings that simulate the techniques used by the Argaric people at that time.

Finally, Pulpí has announced that it will host the next Cuevatur 2022 International Congress, to be held in the municipality from 20 to 23 October. Thanks to the Geode, Pulpí has established itself as one of the most attractive destinations in the geotourism segment. The largest visitable Geode in the world has boosted the municipality and the region. The environment will continue to be improved with a new scenic area with two halls or the rehabilitation of the Castle of San Juan de los Terreros. The presentation ended with a performance by the singer Monstse Sánchez.
