The delegate for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Aránzazu Martín, and the delegate for Sustainable Development, Raquel Espín, have visited a greenhouse in the area of El Solanillo, in the municipality of Roquetas de Mar, where they have announced a new line of aid from the Junta de Andalucía aimed at helping young people to enter the agricultural sector in the province.
In total, 80 million euros will be allocated to these aids, 64 million in the general call and 15.9 million for a specific line aimed at the incorporation of women in the agricultural activity. The Junta de Andalucía provides for an advance of 25% of the aid with the resolution “so that young people have liquidity from the first minute”. These subsidies also include a simplification of the business plan so that “everything is simpler”. Also, in this call for applications, the maximum amount has been increased from 70,000 to 90,000 euros.
Martín stressed that “generational renewal in the countryside is a priority for the Regional Ministry under the direction of Carmen Crespo”. For this reason, she highlighted the 80 million euros of this aid for the incorporation of young people into the agricultural world, compatible with those for modernisation. The delegate of Agriculture has put the emphasis on the training of these young people who join the agricultural sector through IFAPA, for this some courses are established that are necessary to have access to aid.
The delegate of Agriculture has recalled that the first aid of the Government of Juanma Moreno to promote generational change in the field was the rebate on inheritance tax and donations, which comes to promote the legal framework for young people to inherit from parents to children.
In this regard, Martín pointed out that Juanma Moreno’s government has demonstrated its commitment to young farmers with aid that now totals 105 million euros paid out and which has been mobilised during the three years of this legislature.
In this regard, the territorial delegate has explained that the Andalusian Government processed in 2019 the unresolved call for 2018, aids that had only 30 million euros and that were increased to 82.5 million, which has resulted in 1,282 applications throughout Andalusia. In the province of Almeria, 232 beneficiaries received 13.5 million euros.
At the same time, the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries has unblocked and paid the aid that was pending from 2015 and 2016.
Women
The territorial delegate for Agriculture pointed out that the Andalusian Regional Government is seeking to encourage the implementation of a specific competition for the incorporation of women into the agricultural sector, within the framework of the Andalusian Rural Development Programme. This will mean that 20% of the total aid will be allocated to this specific line, so that 15.9 million euros will be focused on the incorporation of women into the agricultural world.
Finally, Martín emphasised that this 80 million euro call for applications aims to ensure that “all young people who want to join the agricultural world in Andalusia can do so”. The call for applications was published in the BOJA on 19 January and the deadline for submitting applications is 21 March. Applications can only be submitted electronically.
