The Guardia Civil of Almeria, in a recent operation called “SRY_24”, arrested a person in Cuevas del Almanzora as the perpetrator of a crime against public health and another of defrauding the electricity supply and investigated four more people for the same facts.
This action is part of the plan developed by the Guardia Civil of Almeria against the trafficking, cultivation or processing of narcotic substances in the province.
The investigation began when the agents observed activity in an industrial building which had been closed for a long period of time and which did not have an electricity meter.
The agents, in collaboration with Endesa technicians, took measurements in the illegal connection to the electricity network and obtained indications of the existence of a marijuana crop inside.
The agents carried out the corresponding searches in the industrial building and in the home of the person responsible, where they found 524 marijuana plants (cannabis Sativa), different tools to optimise the crop, 77 light bulbs, 22 fans, 81 ballasts, 2 high-power turbines and two air purifying filters.
Finally, as a result of the investigation, the Guardia Civil de Almería arrested the person responsible for the crop as the perpetrator of a crime against public health and investigated four other people related to the events, and seized 524 marijuana plants, 6200 euros in cash and a vehicle.
The proceedings conducted by the Guardia Civil along with the detainee are placed at the disposal of the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 1 of Vera.
