The Civil Guard has arrested 14 men aged between 20 and 39 years for their alleged involvement in at least twenty robberies in homes and vehicles in San Javier. Specifically, those arrested are accused of 14 crimes of robbery with force, five of theft, two of injury and other robbery with violence, reported sources of the Benemérita in a statement.
The operation, called ‘Fanrra’, started last May when the Armed Forces detected the commission of a series of robberies in the municipality of San Javier, whose main objective was the theft of all kinds of goods from inside homes and vehicles. Their continuity had generated a certain amount of social alarm in the population.
The civil guards collected traces of the criminal scenes, as well as testimonies and images from video-surveillance cameras, which allowed them to know the coincidence in the ‘modus operandi’ used to commit the robberies, as well as the physical description of the suspects.
THEY ACTED IN GROUPS
The analysis of the information obtained revealed that they were groups of between two and four people who acted in a coordinated manner to act with impunity, not hesitating to break into properties and vehicles – cars, vans, lorries, buses and even caravans – to steal any object that could bring them financial gain.
With this evidence and in order to fully identify them, the Benemérita inspected jewellery and second-hand goods shops, where detailed investigations were carried out to identify possibly stolen objects, which led to the recovery of some jewellery and products.
In addition, the agents had already recovered some of these goods that the criminals had abandoned in the street in some of their hasty escapes after the robberies.
Among the items recovered were a safe, a television, two electric scooters, jewellery, tools and money.
COLLABORATION WITH THE LOCAL POLICE OF SAN JAVIER
Once the information was gathered, the Guardia Civil, in collaboration with the local police of San Javier, focused their efforts on locating the suspects, knowing that they were several groups of people based in San Javier and united by a criminal link.
In a staggered manner, 14 men, of Spanish and Moroccan nationality and with a long criminal record, have been located and arrested. They are allegedly responsible for the crimes of robbery with force, robbery with violence, theft and injuries.
From the investigation it is clear that those arrested were perfectly aware of the properties that had the lightest security measures and were organised to carry out the robberies at night, acting on consecutive days and even on the same night in both homes and vehicles.
The detainees, the effects recovered and the proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction in San Javier, and the main ringleader has been ordered to be remanded in prison.
