A climber was seriously injured after falling from a vertical wall in Cabo Tiñoso, Cartagena.

A 54-year-old man has been seriously injured after falling while climbing a vertical wall in Cabo Tiñoso, in the municipality of Cartagena (Murcia), reported sources from the Emergency Coordination Centre.

The ‘1-1-2’ received a call at 11.23 hours alerting of the accident, which took place in the area known as El Muellecico.

Civil Guard units were sent to the scene, who reported that the injured man was on the shore of the beach and could not move; a boat; environmental agents and a helicopter from the Directorate General of Public Safety and Emergencies with an air rescue group from the Fire and Rescue Consortium of the Region.

The helicopter transferred the climber to the Hospital Clínico Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca, in Murcia.
