The Coordinadora Andaluza de Organizaciones de Mujeres Rurales (COAMUR) has held in Carboneras the first of its meetings at Andalusian level for the analysis of the communication of women’s organisations with the aim of improving their presence and incidence in the media as well as their image.
The project, subsidised by the Instituto Andaluz de la Mujer de la Junta de Andalucía IAM was inaugurated by the mayor of Carboneras, José José Luis Amérigo Fernández, the councillor for Equality Vanesa Fuentes and the advisor of the IAM in Almería, María Montagut. Journalists and representatives of the associative network met in person and online in the theatre house of the music of Carboneras thanks to the collaboration of the consistory and the associations of women of the municipality.
Carmen Caparrós, president of the Federación de Mujeres del Poniente y la Alpujarra was the host of the training meeting whose objective was to deepen in the difficulties and challenges that women’s organisations have when relating with the general media and social media. Marta Soler, Anabel Rodríguez from the association Comunicadoras Granada, Remedios Serrano Carrión, journalist and president of the Federation of Women’s Associations of the Almanzora and the writer Araceli Sobrino were in charge of contributing their experience and knowledge from the dual position of communication professionals and feminist activists.
At the round tables of experiences and presentations by professionals and leaders of the associative movement were Lucía Martín Martín from the association Virgitanas de Berja, María Teresa García Hernández from Mujeres de Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Almería, María José Moreno Rey, psychologist and president of the association Virgitanas de Berja, María Teresa García Hernández from Mujeres de Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Almería, María José Moreno Rey, psychologist and president of the Asociación Psicosocial de Intervención Comunitaria, Fracisca Fuillerat Pérez, vice-president of the Provincial Council for Equality between women and men of Granada, Benicia Hernández Sola of the association Avenmuriel and Remedios Moraleda, president of the Federación de mujeres de los Montes Orientales de Granada.
Recognition
COAMUR presented the first of the public awards of the organisation chaired by Adela Romero. The first award was given to Mari del Carmen Ramón Román from Almeria, for her life and work at the head of CERES Andalucía. A very emotional act delivered by Inmaculada Idáñez, vice-president of COAMUR and president of the Confederation of Rural Women CERES.
The librarian of Carboneras, María José Rufete participated with a poetry reading and the singer ‘Mariana La Pascuala’ put the finishing touch with a speech sung by Comunicación con Arte. Pepi Fernádez Sierra, treasurer of Coamur and president of the Federation of Women Agora de Malága presented the conclusions and invited the audience to attend the next meeting in Córdoba, either virtually or in person.
