The Regional Ministry of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration has contributed 18,150 euros to the construction of an astronomical observatory that completes the informative and research offer of the planetarium in Serón, within the framework of institutional cooperation with the town councils.
The territorial delegate for Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration, José Luis Delgado, visited the facilities with the deputy mayor, Caridad López, and highlighted the importance of the Junta’s support for the municipalities to undertake projects that stimulate activity and which, given their financing problems, could not be carried out on their own with their own funds.
In this regard, he stressed the «commitment of this Government, and especially of the Vice President, Juan Marín, to municipalism, a commitment that is shown with deeds and not just words, providing resources for projects that the local councils are committed to, as they are the ones who know their potential best».
The Serón planetarium was inaugurated in 2018 to promote astronomical tourism in the Almanzora Valley, where there are good conditions for observation due to the clear skies of municipalities such as Serón.
With the new astronomical observatory module built thanks to the grant from the Regional Ministry directed by Juan Marín, «the planetarium completes the offer of activities for visitors interested in this type of tourism that is experiencing a boom», highlighted Delgado.
«Everything that makes this centre more attractive for tourists will result in the generation of employment and wealth for the residents of Serón, which is the main objective of our Regional Ministry’s municipal support policies,» he stressed.
Delgado has congratulated the City Council for betting on this type of projects to singularize the tourist offer of Serón and specialize in a segment that puts in value the environment of the region.
