The Moisés Ruiz sports complex has hosted the presentation of the VI edition of the Provincial Cup of Mountain Races organised by the Andalusian Mountaineering Federation, which has highlighted the firm commitment of the Almeria Provincial Council for outdoor sports, as well as the wide and diverse nature that makes up the tourist brand ‘Costa de Almería’.
The event was attended by the Almeria Provincial Councillor for Sports, José Antonio García, the delegate of the Almeria Provincial Council’s mountaineering federation, Emilio Martínez, as well as councillors from the participating town councils and sponsors who make possible one of the most spectacular and eagerly awaited circuits of the year. It will begin next March in Purchena and will close in the municipality of Huércal de Almería on 10 December. Undoubtedly, a competition that consolidates several sporting events such as the XII Calar Alto Half Marathon and others that repeat after debuting last year such as those of Purchena (Almanzora) and María (Los Vélez).
The Sports Councillor, José Antonio García, has highlighted this competition as the most powerful provincial circuit: “There is no other circuit like this one to show the world the beauty of Almería. The natural spaces and inland areas are an essential and priority window for the sporting practice of thousands of tourists. We will continue working along these lines to place the province and the destination ‘Costa de Almería’ in the national panorama of outdoor sports”.
For his part, the delegate of the Andalusian Mountaineering Federation, Emilio Martínez, referred to the second Initiation Cup which will be held at the same time as the VI Provincial Cup: “specifically, the initiation cup will have 9 events of various distances so that the newcomers can get to know and appreciate the natural environment of Almería. We are very happy with last year’s participation figures, which we hope to improve on for this 6th edition”.
