The Region of Murcia eliminates all restrictions to deal with covid-19 from Wednesday 16 February except the use of the mask regulated by the Ministry of Health. This has been assured by the president of the Community Fernando López Miras, who on Monday chaired the meeting of the Covid Monitoring Committee.
Among the restrictions that are eliminated are the option of applying for the Covid Certificate and the limitation of capacity indoors, or the limitations on tables and bars. “In the Region of Murcia, all restrictions will be eliminated as of Wednesday. Only the use of masks, regulated by the Ministry, will be maintained. It is a measure endorsed by experts in Public Health and Epidemiology,” added López Miras.
The chief executive said that he had wanted to appear today “because the citizens of the region are overcoming this sixth wave and I wanted to thank them for their attitude”, while he also remembered the people who have died in the last two years. And he explained that in this sixth wave, although there have been “many contagions, it has been possible to stop the effect that the virus had in previous waves” of the epidemic, when hospitals were overwhelmed by thousands of contagions.
López Miras warned, however, that the pandemic is not over, “we are closer, but it is still there” and almost two years after the first case was detected in this community he announced that a new stage in the management of the pandemic has begun with the conviction that it will be necessary to continue monitoring its evolution.
He thanked all the health professionals because with their work “it has been possible to bend the curve of contagion”, responding to the demand for care in this sixth wave, and called for prudence and caution “with the hope that the end to this unbearable situation is now closer than ever”.
