Once again, and there have been many this season, Cantoria 2017 came away empty-handed, in this case on their visit to Andújar where they lost 2-0 to Iliturgi, in a match corresponding to matchday 22 of Group 2 of the Andalusian Division of Honour.
A match in which the team coached by David Cartagena was presented with eight notable absentees to face a match that on paper appears to be one of the most accessible. In the first round, the Almanzora team had beaten the team from Jaén by 4-1.
It was an even, flat game without too many chances, until an isolated move saw the home side’s number 24, Soto, beat Alberto to make it 1-0.
Halfway through the second half, Simon scored an own goal from a failed clearance to make it 2-0.
This coming Sunday at 5pm Cantoria will host Maracenas, in one of the key matches at this stage of the championship if they want to achieve their goal of staying in the category.
It is expected the massive attendance of the Cantoria fans, the 12th player to contribute to a much needed victory for the Cantoria team.
