The Andalusian Regional Government vindicates women as an essential part of the political, economic, cultural and social construction of Andalusia.

The delegate of the Government presided over an event in Almería in which she stressed that women have been a fundamental part of the history of Andalusia.

The delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in Almería, Maribel Sánchez Torregrosa, accompanied by the territorial delegates of Equality and Social Policies, Rafael Pasamontes, of Education, Antonio Jiménez, of Culture and Historical Heritage, Eloísa Cabrera, of Agriculture, Arancha Martín, of Tourism, Vicente García Egea, of Health and Families, Juan de la Cruz Belmonte, of Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration, José Luis Delgado, and the provincial advisor of the IAM, María Montagut, presided over the central act organised by the Junta de Andalucía to commemorate the 8th March, International Women’s Day. This is the institutional declaration of the Autonomous Government at the headquarters of the Andalusian Women’s Institute in the province.

A morning in which it was made clear that the transformation of Andalusia has a woman’s name, something that is not only expressed today, but throughout the year. Sánchez Torregrosa acknowledged “that equality between women and men is one of the priorities of the Andalusian Government, and a non-negotiable red line”.

The manifesto was read out by the Delegate for Education, Antonio Jiménez, and the advisor to the Andalusian Women’s Institute in the province, María Montagut, stressing that the Andalusian Government is committed to working to change the social structures and stereotypes that prevent women from developing their full social participation, reaffirming its involvement in achieving greater participation and presence of Andalusian women in the public sphere.

The event emphasised that women have been a fundamental part of Andalusia’s history and that is why it is necessary to make every effort to ensure that their contribution is recognised and expanded. The focus was on each and every woman, recognising their diversity, their differences and their place in the world. Promoting public policies that also focus on the reality of rural areas. A day on which a call has been made to live an International Women’s Day to remember. An 8M that has to be history for the union, fraternity and sorority of all of us to raise our voices against the negationist and hate speeches that threaten the human rights of women and girls.
