Friends of the Railway Baza Region and Guadix Region for the Train, have presented the publication ?El tren Guadix Baza Almanzora Lorca puede y debe volver. Por un tren público social sostenible que vertebre las comarcas de la España Vaciada? (The Guadix Baza Almanzora Lorca train can and must return. For a socially sustainable public train that links the regions of Empty Spain), explaining the need to reopen this railway branch for the whole southeast of the peninsula.
Antonio Francisco Martínez, from Friends of the Railway Baza Region and Guadix Region for the Train explained that it is a work elaborated during more than half a year and an important document in the fight for the train. It has the participation of the European consortium FERRMED, the University of Granada, railway, business and social collectives at provincial, regional and state level, as well as territorial entities and relevant personalities of the area. A book that also includes historical documents and in which graphic testimonies of great value have a special role.
The railway collectives wanted to show that betting on the sustainable social public train in these regions is feasible, profitable and very necessary. At the same time, they have demanded information from the Spanish Government about the Informative Study underway, the end of the railway neglect in the area, the need for a sustainable social public railway to link these emptied regions of the southeast, the end of the dismantling of stations and the impulse for the Mediterranean Railway Corridor to connect with our regions.
