The Road Plan 2022 will renovate the AL-6107 road ‘From the A-1100 in Albanchez to the A-1101 in Rambla Aljibe (Lubrín) through Los Molinas with an investment of 240,000 euros. The president of Diputación, Javier A. García, and the mayor of Albanchez, Amador López, have visited the road which adds a new investment after the 390,000 euros executed since 2017 for the widening and improvement of other sections.
Accompanied by the deputies of Development, Presidency and Social Welfare, Ángel Escobar, Fernando Giménez and Ángeles Martínez, they have known the details of a project that will be financed 100% with provincial funds. The actions planned for this project are as follows:
Widening and improvement of the platform in a section of 1,640 metres to give it a total width of 6.50 metres.
Extension of two pipes
Two reinforced concrete pipes with a diameter of D-800 will be extended to avoid damage from watercourses.
4 new masonry works will be carried out, protecting the slopes with riprap.
In the same way, the general manager of the company explained its commitment to local producers and highlighted the strength of Almeria in the production of Mediterranean almonds. Almonds are the economic engine of the regions of Los Vélez, Filabres-Alhamilla and also the Almanzora.
This company was one of the fastest growing in the province of Almeria during 2020: 45% more turnover compared to the previous year.
The president of the Provincial Council was proud of a company that «has made a commitment to its municipality of origin, creating employment, opportunities and wealth among the residents of Albanchez. We are grateful for its courage and its capacity for growth because it has a positive impact on employment in the region, as its activity is also associated with the creation of ancillary employment: transporters, producers, the hotel and catering trade».
In addition, a series of actions will be carried out:
Drainage: New sections of concreted ditch, extension of masonry works, etc.
Horizontal and vertical signposting.
Javier A. García highlighted the investment effort made by the Provincial Council of Almería to improve the Provincial Road Network: «The 1,200 kilometres that make up the network are essential to connect our towns and villages and facilitate the export of agri-food production and tourist activity. They are what are known as roads against depopulation».
The mayor of the municipality thanked the investment in this road which connects Albanchez with the Levante region via Rambla Aljibe and which gives access to different population centres and scattered areas.
After a meeting with the mayor and the government team, in which they discussed the main demands and concerns of the municipality, they travelled to a benchmark in the marketing and processing of almonds in the province: Almendras Utrera.

The president expressed his surprise at the great capacity of this family business, which in 50 years has become one of the largest marketers in the country. After having worked in the municipalities of Vélez-Rubio and Zurgena, in 2011 they settled in Albanchez where they have facilities of 11,000 m2 on a plot of 50,000 m2.
Currently, Almendras Utrera has 24 workers and a turnover of 45 million years thanks to the export of its products to a total of 40 countries. This company is a benchmark in the marketing and processing of organic almonds at national and international level.
