A huge demonstration took place this Sunday in the Spanish capital in defence of the future of farming and the rural world. Some 200,000 people, according to estimates by the organisers, made it one of the largest mobilisations in the countryside, where regional leaders of the Popular Party, such as the mayors of Alcóntar Ramón Salas and Olula del Río, Antonio Martínez Pascual, together with the PP councillors in Tíjola, Mario Padilla and Adolfo Guiard, could be seen.
The call made by agricultural organisations such as ASAJA, UPA, COAG and the Agri-Food Cooperatives, together with the Spanish Hunting Federation, the Association of Breeders of Select Breeds, the Criadores de Toros de Lidia and the association Alianza Rural, was attended by regional leaders who have been fighting for years for the survival of inland towns and the so-called empty Spain.
The mobilisation passed calmly from the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture to the headquarters of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.
