The Villa de Fines women’s futsal team has been crowned provincial champion of the category with a 5-2 win over Comarca de Níjar.
The team from the Poniente started the game winning with a goal from Amanda in the 6th minute. The visitors hoped to counterattack against an imprecise Fines team and only with order did Níjar take the lead on the scoreboard.
It was a game where nerves were present throughout the 40 minutes on the pitch, aware of what was at stake.
In the 19th minute, Karen scored for the Almanzora team and they went to the break with a draw on the scoreboard.
The home crowd kept cheering and in the second half the Celestes opened up the flanks with Karen as a pivot. Francis Cano’s team, led by the home side, were harassing the goal defended by Virtu, who once again put in an outstanding performance at the Fernando Navarrete. In the 13th minute, a push by Yola on Ángela was penalised with a penalty. The number 23 converted the penalty and once again the home side were back in the game to try to turn the game which at times was a back and forth affair.
Two minutes later Vero, the captain of Fines, came on and scored from distance to level the score again.
But Fines wanted more and Karen again found herself close to the goal and she scored from close range to deny Virtu.
From then on, Comarca de Níjar began to play with five players with the intention of equalising.
With less than two minutes to go, Reme got a well-deserved reward for her sheer willpower as she pushed the ball into the back of the net from a corner. It was 4-2 and the match was decided.
Nerea’s goal in the 19th minute and with Níjar on the back foot, scored from her own area into an empty net.
The final score of 5-2 was too much punishment for the Comarca de Níjar players who played a good game and nullified the individuality of Fines in much of the game.
Villa de Fines were crowned league champions and have a place in the play offs for promotion, having started the championship with promotion as their objective.
