The residents of Purchena now have a renovated Health Centre thanks to the collaboration and union between the provincial, regional and municipal institutions. The municipality has celebrated the inauguration of the works that have made possible the reform and adaptation of this building that will have an impact on the quality of health services received by the purcheneros.
Specifically, the provincial deputy of the PFEA, Matilde Díaz, the mayor, Juan Miguel Tortosa, and the delegate of Health, Juan de la Cruz Belmonte, have inaugurated this work that has been possible thanks to the investments of the PFEA, the Acelera Programme of the Provincial Council, as well as the municipal funds and the financing of the Health Delegation of the equipment.
The Acelera Programme has consisted of five actions that have allowed to remodel the toilets and provide the clinic with an adapted toilet connected to the nursing room; the renovation of the flooring of all the rooms to prevent slips and falls; as well as the renovation of the carpentry to improve the energy efficiency of the building and, finally, the improvement of electrical installations, plumbing, drainage and pre-installation of the future installation of air conditioning, as well as paintings and finishes.
In addition, through the PFEA, a project focused on improving accessibility and energy efficiency of the Health Centre has been carried out. In this sense, a pavement with sufficient width and totally uniform to reduce the slope of access to the interior has been executed. In addition, thermal and sound insulation has been carried out both on the roofs and facades to ensure efficiency in air conditioning.
The PFEA project has had an investment of 58,000 euros and has led to the creation of more than 500 jobs. The Plan de Fomento de Empleo Agrario is a valuable example of institutional collaboration between the Government of Spain, the Junta de Andalucía, Diputación and Town Councils, and this year has increased its investment effort to more than 14.8 million euros to be allocated to 238 works in 87 municipalities and Fuente Victoria under the management of the Provincial Council.
Mati Díaz has highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration to improve services to the people of Almeria: “This work shows on the one hand the importance of the Provincial Council, to respond to the needs of the municipalities; the PFEA, as a catalyst for employment and an element to improve infrastructure, and institutional collaboration, because without the support of the administrations involved today we would not be here in Purchena”.
The territorial delegate for Health, Juan De la Cruz Belmonte, stressed the importance of accessibility to health services “in all the municipalities of the province. In every corner and wherever the users are”. “And this has been demonstrated during the pandemic by the COVID-19 with the attention to the residents of all the towns and villages of Almeria”. “With this new health centre we are also renewing its medical team, which is being taken over by two great health professionals, the nurse Fulgencio Sánchez and the doctor Evaristo Jiménez”.
The Purchena clinic is part of the Mármol Clinical Unit of the North Almería Health Management Area.
For his part, the Mayor emphasised that this project has fulfilled the objective set by the Town Council to renovate one of the most important services that the local residents receive: healthcare. “Today is a very important day for Purchena, but also for the entire Almanzora region. We continue to improve services thanks to the collaboration of the institutions which, in addition, will make possible the implementation of more services in the coming months”.
