The Guardia Civil of Almeria, in two separate and unrelated investigations, carried out in Adra (Almeria), arrested a person as the perpetrator of a theft offence after stealing jewellery worth 7,500 euros and 400 euros in cash from a house he was renovating, and investigated another, as the perpetrator of a crime of identity theft and another of fraud after contracting several mobile phone services and acquiring two high-end mobile phones in the name of a third person.

The Guardia Civil initiated both investigations following a complaint lodged by the victims at the official offices, where they informed the agents of the facts.

In the first action, the agents became aware that a person was robbed of jewellery worth 7,500 euros and 400 euros in cash from a house undergoing renovations, located in the town of Adra (Almeria), where several people from different masonry and painting companies were working.

In the same way, the investigators recovered the stolen jewellery, which was recognised by the victim as hers, and immediately arrested the perpetrator.

In the second action, the agents began an arduous investigation after learning that a television and fibre package had been contracted in the name of the victim and that two high-end mobile phones had been purchased through a major telephone company.

Numerous enquiries were made and through the use of different technological means, the agents were aware that a person had tried to sell one of the phones to a shop, but had not been able to sell it. The investigators also located the other handset owned by a person who claimed to have bought it for 880 euros from a third person.

The civil guards located, identified and investigated the perpetrator and found out that he had obtained the victim’s personal details by deception in order to carry out the telephone contract and the purchase of the mobile phones.

Finally, as a result of these two actions, the Guardia Civil de Almería arrested a person in Adra (Almería) as the perpetrator of a theft offence after stealing jewellery worth 7,500 euros and 400 euros in cash from a house he was renovating, and investigated another person as the perpetrator of an identity theft offence and a fraud offence after contracting several mobile phone services and purchasing two high-end mobile phones in the name of a third person.

The proceedings carried out by the Guardia Civil, together with the detainee and the person in custody, have been handed over to the Juzgado de Instrucción Nº 2 de Berja (Almería).
