The territorial delegate of Education and Sport in Almería, Antonio Jiménez, has visited Macael following the request made for the Virgen del Carmen Nursery School. There he met with the Mayor, Raúl Martínez and the Councillor for Culture, Public Works and Youth, Emilio Cruz, and told them that the request made for material, specifically 4 shelves with doors, 4 shelves without doors and five tables with their corresponding chairs will be provided by the Occupational Centre “Javier Peña” to help the realization of the project of this nursery school.
The Virgen del Carmen Nursery School, since 1998, is a space that provides professional educational care to promote the overall development of children aged between 16 weeks and 3 years. In addition, it is committed to educating in a simple way, with a methodology based on immersion in their own language, introduction to English, as well as teaching techniques based on Montessori methodology. This children’s centre also wants to set up a Baby Library, to bring the little ones into contact with books. For this initiative they need to create a space outside the classroom where they can enjoy the pleasure of handling, looking at, browsing and listening to stories, and where they can have personalised and specific furniture.
Antonio Jiménez thanked the children for this donation and expressed his support for the work carried out at the Occupational Centre, which is dedicated to the care of people with intellectual disabilities of working age who are unable to integrate, temporarily or permanently, into the normal world of work, and highlighted “the wonderful work carried out by its users for the social benefit of our community”.
For his part, the Mayor of Macael, Raúl Martínez, was very satisfied because “it is an invaluable collaboration that will provide this library with quality furniture and where the local children will be able to stage, listen to and handle books”.
Sports City
The representatives of both administrations have also visited the Sports City of the municipality where some improvements are going to be made since Macael, is one of the 4 municipalities of Almeria that has benefited from the subsidies to local entities for the promotion of sports infrastructures.
As Jiménez explained, the aim of this line of aid is to promote the reform or repair of existing sports facilities that guarantee citizens’ access to sports practice, as well as their maintenance. In the specific case of Macael Town Council, it will receive 120,000 thousand euros to make improvements to the football pitch and the conditioning of the outdoor sports courts, which will be complemented by the 80,000 euros that the council will provide.
Raúl Martínez, mayor of the municipality, emphasised that this investment is “the result of working together to achieve objectives that benefit the citizens and which also help to continue to implement major infrastructures”. The regional delegate and the councillor also agreed “on the need to promote the culture of effort and overcoming difficulties through sport”.
